Rob Soltysik Israel attacked the USS Liberty in the Six-Day War in 1967. This is the same war in which Israel occupied the Golan Heights area of Syria, which continues to this day. 

According to former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Thomas Moorer, “Those men were then betrayed and left to die by our own government.” 

The survivors are still awaiting justice."

Those who don't learn from history are condemned to repeat the same folly or fall for the same lies, over and over again, ad nauseum. 


Via Navy Reading Today is the 50th anniversary of the attacks on the USS Liberty in the Mediterranean Sea. They occurred during the Six Day War between Israel and Egypt. Israeli aircraft and torpedo boats attacked Liberty off the Gaza Strip. Liberty attempted to radio for assistance, but the Israeli aircraft blocked the transmissions. Eventually, the ship made contact with the carrier USS Saratoga. 12 fighter jets and four tanker planes were dispatched to defend the Liberty. When word of their deployment reached Washington, however, Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara ordered them recalled to the carrier, and they never reached Liberty.

The initial air raid against Liberty was over. Nine of the 294 crew members were dead and 60 were wounded. Suddenly, the ship was attacked again, this time by Israeli torpedo boats, which launched torpedoes and fired artillery at the ship. Under the command of its wounded captain, William L. McGonagle, Liberty managed to avoid four torpedoes, but one struck her at the waterline. Heavily damaged, the ship launched three lifeboats, but these were also attacked…a violation of international law. By day's end 34 Americans were killed and 171 were wounded in the two-hour attack. Captain McGonagle was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic command of #USSLiberty during the attack. #HistoryMatters

"On June 8, 1967, under Johnson’s orders, Israeli planes bombed the American spy ship USS Liberty off of the coast of Egypt. 34 of the 294 crewman aboard were killed in the attack. If not for some ingenuity and dumb luck the ship would have been sunk and the attack would have been blamed on Russia or Egypt. It appears that the attack on the Liberty was going to be used to justify the nuclear bombing of Cairo which may have led to World War III.

As fate would have it, LBJ’s plan blew up in his face and the world got a reprieve from a nuclear US induced holocaustVETERANS TODAY: "The real story is that President Johnson, who was being battered in the polls over the Vietnam War and facing a general election loss and even losing the DNC primary, ordered the Israelis to bomb the USS Liberty to create a casus belli to secure a Gulf of Tonkin style resolution to explode the world into war because in America everybody loves an outraged and indignant president who will use the full force of the military at the slightest provocation, even a government planned false flag attack.

The USS Liberty, however, encompasses far more than a murderous psychopathic American president resorting to hideously evil deeds to get re-elected. In addition to ordering the total destruction of the USS Liberty and sending 294 Americans to a watery grave in the Mediterranean Sea, LBJ also ordered the nuclear bombing of Cairo, an event specifically designed to create a nuclear war by blaming the entire USS Liberty affair on Russia or Egypt. More horrifying, it’s documented that US planes were on emergency standby orders as pilots waited on the runways in their planes armed with nuclear weapons. The nuclear bombing of Cairo was called off only 3 minutes before the nuclear bomb drops.


Clearly Lyndon would stop at nothing (not even nuclear war) to ensure Israeli domination of the Middle East. If he had no qualms about nuking an innocent city certainly organizing a plot to assassinate JFK and ascend to the Presidency would not be a big stretch for LBJ." Source; 

In a more passive mistaken identity account that does not include LBJ, Wikipedia reports that: Israel apologized for the attack, saying that the USS Liberty had been attacked in error after being mistaken for an Egyptian ship. Both the Israeli and U.S. governments conducted inquiries and issued reports that concluded the attack was a mistake due to Israeli confusion about the ship's identity,[2] though others, including survivors of the attack, have rejected these conclusions and maintain that the attack was deliberate.[6]

The USS Liberty incident was an attack on a U.S. Navy intelligence ship, USS Liberty, in international waters about 12.5 nautical miles (23 km) from the coast of the Sinai Peninsula, north of El Arish, by Israeli fighter planes and torpedo boats on June 8, 1967.

































It occurred during the Six-Day War, a conflict between Israel and the Arab states of Egypt, Jordan and Syria. The Israeli attack killed 34 U.S. servicemen and wounded at least 173. The attack was the second deadliest against a U.S. Naval vessel since the end of World War II, surpassed only by the Iraqi Exocet missile attack on the USS Stark on May 17, 1987, and marked the single greatest loss of life by the U.S. Intelligence Community.

Dan McMillan I count the attack on the USS Liberty as the first time in the modern era that we, as Americans, found that Americans are not in full control of this Country and its pursuit of American policy, goals and ideals. It is painfully obvious that the recall of 6th Fleet aircraft coming to the aid of a stricken American-flagged vessel that was horrifically attacked by Israel was un-American in and of itself. Who was in control? LBJ and his defense staff were told to stand down and so LBJ told the 6th Fleet to stand down. Unacceptable. 

I talked to a former NSA official and he told me the reason Israel tried to sink this vessel was that the Johnson Administration had told Israel before the 6 Day War that they were not to invade Syria under any circumstances. Israel only acts for its own benefit and self interest. And, for that reason, Israel pre-planned the invasion of Syria and the occupation and control of the Golan Heights. For this reason, Israel did not want the NSA men on board that ship and the American government to find out this fact. Therefore, they attacked the USS Liberty with no warning, no intention of leaving anyone alive and they intended to sink the ship and cover up their cowardly act. It is only American bravery and luck that kept that ship afloat. 

We now see Israeli control of our Legislative Branch of government, through AIPAC, as a continued stranglehold of American foreign policy. Our continued support of Israel against International UN condemnation is setting us up for a spiral into chaos. The recent vote in the House against our recent Obama-lead UN abstention shows that the Israelis are still in control. At what point do we wake up and get OUR COUNTRY BACK? We spent and wasted two plus trillion dollars in Iraq due to misinformation by Israel's Mossad over WMD's. We need some true blue Americans in charge and in leadership. God bless the men who survived that infamous attack in 1967 who are vocal and willing to tell the real story."

"In a statement to The Intercept, Ernie Gallo, who currently serves as the president of the Liberty Veterans Association, said, “We now know that the Navy Court of Inquiry was merely for show, as the officers were told to come to the conclusion the Liberty did [its] job and the attack was accidental.”...

The incident and its aftermath took a significant psychological toll on survivors, many of whom were reported to suffer from PTSD. One survivor and member of the Liberty Veterans Association, James Ennes, was shot in the femur during the attack, and was then instructed never to discuss it. Ernie Gallo had a fellow crewmate die in his arms. It was decades before survivors began sharing their experiences, and they were sometimes criticized for being anti-Semitic or slanderous of Israel for doing so..."

SUMMARY


Whether you believe that the attack was deliberate or 'accidental', it again points out how dangerous nuclear bombs, weapons, ships and subs are. All it takes is a leader who is willing to launch a false flag attack to start a global nuclear war. Even an 'accidental' attack can trigger an all out nuclear war in just minutes, all due to a 'mistake'.

There are those people today, like LBJ, who believe that a first strike nuclear war is winnable and doable. They are willing to use a limited nuclear war to achieve whatever goal they have in mind. 

If LBJ had successfully launched a nuclear attack on Cairo, it may very well have triggered a nuclear war with Russia or some other ally of theirs that would automatically launch nuclear missiles in response. Just blowing up a nuclear ship or sub presents it's own dangers and risks, without anything more being done. The result of any nuclear war is Armageddon globally, due to nuclear winter. 

Nuclear weapons on board ships or subs are one risk, and the nuclear reactor powering the ship or sub is another risk. If blown up, all of this radiation goes into both the air and water, contaminating both plus wide areas far away from this initial 'incident'. Depending on how bad the situation is, it could make a large area uninhabitable. 

How many times has the world almost gone into an all out WWIII, without anyone really knowing about it, until 50 years later, when the 'secrets' are finally revealed?

Over 52 years ago the attack on the USS Liberty became the only attack on a US Navy ship since the end of World War II NOT to be the subject of a US government investigation. A mark that stands today despite the attacks on the USS Pueblo, USS Stark, and USS Cole all of which have been investigated by the US government. Likewise, the USS Vincennes incident and the bombing of the US Marine Barracks in Beirut have been investigated by the US government. Not so the attack on the USS Liberty.

Why is the USS Liberty such an exception to the rule? Hmmmm...

American Legion calls for full investigation into Israel’s attack on the USS Liberty
In a historic move, the American Legion, at its national convention in Reno on Thursday, August 24, 2017, approved Resolution 40 (text provided below) calling for the first full U.S. government investigation of Israel’s 1967 attack on the USS Liberty.

Gunnery Sergeant Bryce F. Lockwood (USMC, ret.) was on hand during the entire convention working for passage of the resolution, which originated earlier this year from Post 40 in Seattle in the American Legion Department of Washington (state).
